Mixing – The surface, which is to be tiled, should be cleaned to remove all traces of wax and loose particles (dust) that could hamper a good bond. Tile adhesive powder is to be mixed with water at a volumetric ratio of 3.5:1. Take the required quantity of clean water in a clean (vessel) Ghamela and mix the Tile adhesive powder gradually to achieve a paste. Allow the material to stand for 5-7 minutes for the polymer to get activate. Then mix and apply the material by a trowel or any such suitable tool.

Application

Fixing of ceramic tiles on new cement surfaces can be done by two Methods-Buttering methods and Notched trowel. Tile adhesive can be used for both types of applications.

  • In buttering method, the prepared paste is applied evenly behind the dampened tiles, then fix on the floor or wall.
  • In notched trowel method. – Place adhesive on the ribbed edge of the notch trowel, then spread the adhesive onto the wall/floor, holding the trowel at 45 to 50 degrees to the surface.
  • Spread not more than 1 sq. m. at a time and comb the adhesive to the required thickness.
  • Press the tiles firmly into position with a slight twisting action. Leave adequate joints between individual tiles.
  • Tiles should be fixed within the specified open time as per the technical data sheet of adhesive being applied.
  • Clean surplus adhesive from the tile face between joints
  • Clean all tools by jet of water.
